~Sold~ Arima 1511 Explorere

So we did a sea trial yesterday and this Compact Overnighter runds fantastic!

These boats are designed to be extrremly efficient, and it shows, she jumped right up on plane and easily acheived 37 MPH with just a 90 hp Yamaha!

This one arrived over the weekend, we will be putting her through the paces soon!

Expect this unique, high quality, mini overnighter to be in the 15k range..

In about a week or so, we will have this very cool 1996 ARIMA EXPLORER 1511 joining us @ YCM.

That's right, a cuddy cabin/overnighter/fishing/family boat that’s less than 16 feet!

There is no doubt, I have an odd affection for small, kinda dorky boats - and Arima just fills in all those blanks for me.

Arima is a small boat builder (both the boats and the company) in Washington state.

They have a reputation for building high quality, hand built, foam filled, small boats that like Boston Whaler are “unsinkable”.

I’ve admired the brand from afar for years, and this will be the first that we’ve actually had here at YCM. - I can’t wait to take her out on the water.

These small, high bow, unusual boats are designed to comfortably tolerate the rough waters of the Great Northwest, and to do so efficiently.

All Arima boats are designed to run on plane with low horsepower motors, and to be towed by small automobiles. The founder of the company (last name Arima) was known to tow one behind his ‘70s VW Bug!

This one is powered by a simple Yamaha 90 hp two stroke outboard - good on gas, very reliable.

If you visit Arima’s website, don’t expect much. It’s primitive at best and has the feel of a really small, old school company dragged in to the digital age by someone’s teenaged daughter. It may in fact be worst than ours!

Anyway, they don’t pump out a whole lot of boats, and most never leave the North West. It is a rare treat to have one here in Virginia.

Stay tuned, we will have a more details and a price on this one shortly..

Update -

Small boat, big personality..

With a quick walk around today I was impressed with the over all clever design of the boat, packing so much into less than 16 feet!

The modular designs remind me of some of the Shamrocks we have had. There are two lift out floor panels exposing large fish boxes/storage areas, three more removable panels on the inside transom giving easy access to the fuel tank and batteries. The passenger and jump seat are on a large modular box with storage as well.

Tired of unreliable fuel gauges? The lift out panel in front of the translucent gas tank shows exactly how much gas you have in a really cool, very reliable and very unsophisticated manner!

When removing the cabin cushions, which form a completely flat and impressive sleeping area for her size, we discovered a large freshwater storage tank! There is a pump that sends water back to a small storage bin/sink next to the motor. This is ideal for a personal rinse down or to clean the day's catch. It appears to be unused.

This is a really cool, really well made, unsinkable, mini overnighter.

We will post a more thorough video once we get a few more of these sold boats out the door.

The upcoming video will include the cabin, bimini top, enclosure, etc.
